In this episode, Dr. Danny explores the transformative power of positivity and energy in both personal and professional realms. He shares a moving story about a homeless woman whose upbeat attitude, despite difficult circumstances, left a lasting impression. This story illustrates the resilience of the human spirit and serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of maintaining a positive mindset.

Dr. Danny introduces the concept of "fountains" and "drains." Fountains are people who uplift and energize those around them, while drains are those who sap energy from others. He explains that in the business world, especially among leaders, positivity is rare but incredibly powerful. By choosing to be a fountain, a leader can inspire their team, foster a constructive atmosphere, and navigate challenges with optimism.

He emphasizes that positivity is a choice and a tool that can dramatically influence success. Challenges, Dr. Danny argues, are opportunities in disguise. By shifting our mindset, we can turn obstacles into stepping stones toward greater achievements.

Dr. Danny also discusses the role of leadership in difficult times, highlighting the choice leaders have to either spread fear or promote calm and focus. True leadership, he suggests, is about maintaining optimism even in the face of adversity. This approach not only helps in overcoming challenges but also in creating a positive, empowering environment for others.

Dr. Danny encourages listeners to step back, gain perspective, and embrace the power of their mindset. Through practical insights and heartfelt stories, this episode serves as a reminder that positivity is not just an attitude—it’s a vital resource that can enrich our lives and inspire those around us.

Danny: Because there's two kinds of people, there's fountains and there's drains. So you can either be an energy fountain or you can be an energy drain. You can be somebody that when someone has an interaction with them, they feel more energized, they feel more excited. Or you can be somebody that's a drain and when someone has an interaction with them, they feel like the energy has been sucked out of them.

Hey, are you a physical therapist looking to leverage your skill set in a way that helps you create time and financial freedom for yourself and your family? If so, you're in the right spot. My name's Danny Matta and over the last 15 years, I've done pretty much everything you can in the profession. I've been a staff PT, I've been an active duty military officer, physical therapist, I've started my own cash practice, I've sold that cash practice, and to date, my company, Physical Therapy Biz, has helped over a thousand clinicians start, grow, and scale their own cash practices.

If this sounds like something you want to do, listen up, because I'm here to help you. Hey, what's going on, Dr. Danny here with the P. T. entrepreneur podcast. And today we're talking about something that's completely free that can dramatically change what you're able to accomplish in business, just in life in general.

And it's honestly, it's your energy. It's the way you show up in the world. It's the way that you interact with people and the energy that you bring to different situations can either be a deterrent or it can be an attractive. I'm going to tell you a story about a local nonprofit group that my wife and I work with, and she goes there every week.

I go there when they usually need like heavy things moved, which happened to be this past week. And this this is a nonprofit that is basically it helps homeless mainly women have a place to move into and in transition to an, basically an apartment complex that they own.

But this is a house, this is a house in our neighborhood. And it's a place where they can have a transitionary housing option as they find a job and then they move to this apartment complex they have for another, period of time before they're able to solidify their, financial position to, to have their own place to live.

And it's an it's really close to where we're at. It is something that we feel really good about, helping out with. And I had an interaction when I was there with one of the folks that's there and she is she was homeless. She was actually in New Orleans. She has a son who's about the same age as mine.

And when I started chatting with her she just was like, so positive. When you talk to people, you're like, Hey, how's it going? And most people are like, that's good. How are you? And she was like, It's great. I'm great. How are you? And that response, that type of energy is rare especially for somebody who is not necessarily in the best, life situation.

This is something that I've noticed now, obviously just with people. That are going through some challenging things, but people that are, that we work with that are business owners that are going through some serious challenges with trying to figure out how they can, how they can make this really challenging thing work and the positive attitude that somebody has, the positive energy that somebody brings into interactions, the simplest things like responding to how someone asks you how you're doing with, I'm great.

How are versus I'm good. Huge difference. I know you feel that whenever you talk to somebody as well, the way that you respond to people is the same way. The energy that you bring to how you talk to your patients, how you talk to your staff, how you talk to the people around you that are potentially referral partners or people in your community that are aware of your business.

That's an incredibly important thing to keep top of mind. Because there's two kinds of people, there's fountains and there's drains. So you can be an energy fountain, or you can be an energy drain. You can be somebody that when someone has an interaction with them, they feel more energized. They feel more excited.

Or you can be somebody that's a drain, and when someone has an interaction with them, they feel like the energy has been sucked out of them. They're tired. They're like mentally fatigued. And this attitude that you take into things. Into anything is free. It is your own will of whether you decide you want to look at things from a positive standpoint and be excited about the future and the things that are in front of you, or you can be negative.

And this is what's going to happen anytime that there's a problem that exists in your business. And this is what I'm gonna speak to, because obviously I'm talking about, interaction I had. And in a nonprofit that, it may not directly affect you, but it's very important for me to have interactions like this and to not just myself, but our family, our kids to put ourself in places where we realize just how fortunate we are on a regular basis.

It's that is easily lost on us. I believe everyone, we don't realize how much. More challenging life can be, and not everybody starts in the same place. And to have perspective for that is incredibly important. But aside from that, if you can just realize that you're going to be put into positions with your business, you're going to be forced into positions.

They're going to suck. Somebody is going to leave. Take your clients you're going to struggle to get, the business off the ground. You're going to struggle to be able to, scale past yourself. You're going to struggle for many things. You're going to have seasonal changes in your business, ups and downs, whatever.

But the attitude in which you take to those situations, the energy that you bring to those situations. It's so easily can get pulled away from you. The positive side of what's going on can be stripped from your, your presence of how you show up in interactions. And I've been there and I've had the same things happen to me where I get, I'm Mr.

Poopypants. I'm Debbie Downer. Like I'm just not a, I'm not a enjoyable person to be around, but that doesn't make the situation any freaking better. It doesn't help anything if anything it decreases your chances of actually getting through the challenging time that you have but it's so hard To maintain a positive mental outlook on the world on the things that you're trying to do when in actuality If you're struggling and you're frustrated because your business isn't going the direction you want I understand i've been there I feel it But for god's sakes there's people that have better attitudes than you that are homeless That are literally just trying to learn a skill so they can get a job that are trying to support their family, and are in terrible places And they can show up in the world in a more positive way than most of us do.

And it's free, it's totally free. And I promise you, it will make a massive difference on how people interact with you and the likelihood of wanting to see you succeed. And especially if you can have this positive mental outlook during times that are rough, That is rare. That is true leadership. In my opinion, a leader is somebody that doesn't just let everything just it's all burning down, let's all run for the hills.

This is terrible. What are we going to do? If you're the leader and you're acting like that, you're screwed. Everyone is going to leave. Everyone is going to yeah, run off because they're scared. You've made them even more scared. But if you can bring your positive outlook onto the fact that we are lucky to be able to do these things, we are lucky to be able to solve these problems.

Transcribed we're fortunate to be in a place where we can take a chance on ourself. Not everybody's even in a place to be able to do that. Don't lose that. Don't lose that energy, that positive reference that you take to everything. When things are going well, keep that when things are okay, or things are not great, because that's free and that is going to help you.

Dramatically affect your likelihood of achieving the goals. You have honestly the other thing too. It doesn't feel good to be, you know Down on yourself. It doesn't feel good to be low energy, Not excited to do what you do and everyone around you feels that This is a free thing that you can change All you have to do is just tweak the way in which you look at the world And remember that you are lucky to be able to solve the problems that you have You could be solving way worse problems than what we're trying to solve in our business So the next time you're having a bad day or a bad week or you didn't hit your revenue numbers the month that you know You the goals that you set and you start to get frustrated with yourself.

Just remember put it in perspective change your view Change, change your, what you're comparing where you're at to and show up in a really positive way. That's going to be so much better off for the long term. Hey, Peach entrepreneurs. We have big, exciting news, a new program that we just came out with.
